Privacy Policy for JB Tool - QR Code Scanner
Effective Date: October 7, 2026
Advertising-related data processing described in this policy applies only when the app includes Google AdMob. It does not apply to an ad-free installation.
1. Overview
JB FACTORY ("we," "our," or "us") provides the JB Tool - QR Code Scanner mobile application, whose launcher name is QR Code Scanner. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, why it is used, where processing occurs, and the choices available to you.
2. QR Code and Barcode Creation
The app processes the content you enter to create QR codes and barcodes. QR code content may include text, a URL, Wi-Fi network details, or contact information. Barcode content may include text or numbers supported by the selected barcode format. Code creation occurs on your device and the entered content is not sent to JB FACTORY.
Created text, URL, and contact QR codes and created barcodes may be recorded in local History so that you can restore their inputs. Wi-Fi QR code content, including Wi-Fi passwords, is not saved to History.
3. Camera and Image Scanning
When you use live scanning, the app accesses the camera to examine frames for QR codes and supported barcodes. Camera frames and detected code content are processed on the device. The app does not upload camera images, frames, or scan results to JB FACTORY.
You may also select an existing image using Android's system file or photo picker. The app reads the selected image only to detect codes on the device. It does not alter the original image or send it to JB FACTORY.
A detected result is not added to History automatically. You choose whether to save a scan result after reviewing it.
4. Information Stored on Your Device
The app may store the following information locally:
- created QR code content other than Wi-Fi QR content, its code type, and generation settings;
- created barcode content and the selected barcode format;
- scan content and format that you explicitly save to History; and
- your selected app-language and scanner preferences.
History and preferences are stored in the private storage assigned to the app and are not transmitted to JB FACTORY. Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled for the app's internal data.
If you choose to save a generated image, the image is written to the device's shared Pictures collection. A saved image may remain after uninstalling the app and may be accessible to other apps according to Android's media-access controls. You can delete it using a gallery or file-management app.
5. Permissions and Device Access
-
Camera (
CAMERA): Used only when you choose live QR code or barcode scanning. You can deny this permission and continue to scan an image selected from your device. -
Photos and storage on Android 9 and earlier
(
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Used only when you choose to save a generated QR code or barcode image to shared storage. Newer Android versions use the system media-storage interface without this legacy permission. -
Internet and network state
(
INTERNETandACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Used by Google UMP to obtain consent information and by Google AdMob to request, display, secure, and measure ads.
You can deny or revoke camera access in Android settings. The app does not request location, contacts, microphone, or account permissions. Google Mobile Ads may access an advertising identifier or related device identifiers where permitted by Android, your settings, and applicable consent.
6. Actions, Advertising, Sharing, and External Apps
After scanning a code, you may choose an action such as opening a URL, dialing a phone number, preparing an email or SMS, opening a map or Wi-Fi settings, or adding contact information. The app sends the relevant content to the Android app you select or to the applicable system screen. The receiving app or service handles that content under its own privacy practices.
When you choose Share, Android transfers the generated image or scan result to the app or service you select. JB FACTORY does not receive the shared content and does not control it after you send it to another app. Review scan results and generated content before sharing them.
The app uses Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) to provide advertising and Google UMP to manage consent and privacy choices. Google may process IP address, device and advertising identifiers, app and ad interactions, consent signals, and diagnostic information for ad delivery, fraud prevention, security, and measurement. The app does not deliberately pass QR code content, barcode content, camera frames, selected images, scan results, or History to the advertising SDK. Google's processing is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Google's advertising policies.
Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) requests an update of consent information when the app starts and displays a consent form when required. The Mobile Ads SDK is initialized and ads are requested only when the current UMP state permits ad requests. Depending on your region and privacy choices, ads may be personalized, non-personalized, or limited. When UMP requires a privacy options entry point, the app lets you reopen the form and review or change your choices.
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share the data described above automatically for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. IP addresses may be used to estimate a device's approximate location; this does not require GPS location permission. Identifiers may include the Android advertising ID, app set ID, and, where applicable, identifiers associated with signed-in accounts. Data collected by the SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS. The app does not include a separate analytics SDK. See Google's Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure for details.
The app does not include a separate analytics, social-media, account, or payment SDK. It also uses Android, Google ML Kit barcode scanning, ZXing, CameraX, and open-source Android support libraries for on-device functionality. These components are not used to send code content or History to JB FACTORY.
Google Play and the Android operating system may independently process information related to app distribution, installation, security, crash reporting, or device operation under Google's policies and your device settings. Such processing is not performed by JB Tool - QR Code Scanner or received by JB FACTORY through the app.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
JB FACTORY does not maintain a server-side account, database, or user record for JB Tool - QR Code Scanner. There is therefore no app-collected server data for us to retain or delete.
Advertising and consent information processed by Google is retained under Google's policies and cannot be deleted through the app's History controls. You can use the in-app advertising privacy choices when Google requires that entry point and can also manage advertising settings through Android or your Google account.
History and preferences remain on your device until you delete them using available in-app controls, clear the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. History entries can be deleted individually or cleared together. Images saved to the shared Pictures collection must be deleted separately from a gallery or file-management app.
8. Security
JB Tool - QR Code Scanner minimizes data exposure by keeping code creation, scanning, History, and preferences on the device and by not operating a JB FACTORY account or data server. Locally stored internal data is kept in the app's private storage. Advertising network requests are handled by Google Mobile Ads and are separated from code content and History.
QR codes and barcodes may contain sensitive or unsafe content. Review detected content before opening a link, sending a message, adding a contact, connecting to a network, or sharing a result. No method of electronic storage is completely secure.
9. Children's Privacy
JB Tool - QR Code Scanner is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. JB FACTORY does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Google advertising services may process device and advertising data as described in this policy.
